Nissan Pickup best selling among LCV range in the GCC
Doha – Qatar, (10 December, 2008) – Nissan Middle East has posted impressive sales figures for its Pickup, which it says is the best selling among Nissan’s light commercial vehicle (LCV) lineup in the GCC region. Customers in Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar proved to be the highest selling markets for this model in the region over the period from April until October2008. The sales figures show that a massive 48 percent of total GCC sales of Nissan Pickup were accounted for by the Saudi Arabian market; while UAE and Qatar each comprised 18 per cent sales during the same period.
“Nissan pickups are built strong and tough to withstand the most grueling conditions. But they're also built with the customer’s comfort and safety in mind. And our sales figures prove that we are building a highly appealing product which appears to have great cultural appeal, creating loyal customers across the GCC” commented Ibrahim Abou Samra, Head of Nissan’s Light Commercial Vehicle Business Unit in the Middle East.
The Nissan Pickup is equipped with effortless power steering that helps make driving easier and improves maneuverability. A high quality radio/cassette stereo system and a powerful air conditioning system make journeys more comfortable.
The star of the Nissan stand will be Qazana, a show car. It is best described as a small Crossover, and has been conceived to challenge conventional wisdom about what buyers of small five-door cars should expect.
The striking design is dominated by large, wide wheel arches and a lower shape which gives a feeling of strength, while the upper body is dynamic, assertive and sporty. Qazana is a five door, with the rear doors opening forwards once the front doors have been opened, in the style of ‘suicide doors’.
Each Nissan Pickup model comes with a choice of either a 2.4-litre gasoline engine or an all-new 2.5-litre diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
“Nissan’s heritage in the region spans over 50 years of supplying very durable vehicles to the GCC, with many Nissan Pickups still supporting families, businesses and communities today. The range business sectors that have adopted the Pickup as their vehicle of choice is varied such as construction, petroleum, food and beverage and transportation companies, as well as farmers and Agricultural industries. Whatever the requirement, the Nissan Pickup comes with a choice of power plants that incorporate state-of-the-art technology for incredibly quiet operation, high power and torque as well as outstanding fuel-efficiency,” added Abou Samra. The Nissan Pickup is also available in Single or Double cab formats.
