(25th
May 2002), Under the sponsorship of several prominent
brands the most outstanding of which was Nissan, the “Emir
& Heir Apparent” cup finals took place in Qatar.
The first final “Heir Apparent Cup” took place on the
10th of May. Cheered on by over 50,000 spectators and watched live
on television throughout the Gulf Region, saw an entertaining football
match.
The “Emir Cup” took place on the 24th of May. This
event was also well supported by local fans and on television as
well throughout the region. This match, contested by Al Sadd and
Ittehad football teams was attended by H.H Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa
Al Thani- the Emir.
Through Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Co., Nissan sole distributor in
Qaatar, supplied thirty-two Sunny saloon cars, raffled at the end
of each match. The entry ticket in the stadium was also the “free
entry” into the draw for the Nissan Sunnys.
Even before the World Cup started, Nissan displayed enough vision
to support football events. Nissan’s goal is not only to reach
a globally bigger client base but also to be a part of the lives
of its clients in all regions.
